The move to 5102 West Adams marked a new chapter for Casa Ysasi. After months of shaping our first space next door, we realized we needed a dedicated gallery where we could fully present exhibitions and welcome the community in. What we found at 5102 was a raw, neglected storefront and an opportunity to finally create the gallery we had been envisioning. When the landlord mentioned the space was available, we decided to take the leap.
The process was long and hands-on. We inhaled our share of dust, learned how to build
drywall, even picked up some basic electrical skills. The renovation became a journey in
itself: we removed the ceiling, built new walls, re-finished every surface, and designed
the lighting from scratch.
It was messy and often overwhelming, but also deeply rewarding. Piece by piece,we built the gallery ourselves, guided by the same spirit that started Casa Ysasi:care, curiosity, and the belief that space can hold meaning.
Today, Ysasi Gallery stands as both an extension of our practice and a vessel for others: a place to host exhibi-tions, share ideas, and create moments of connection in West Adams.
