CASA YSASI

Studio Ysasi

In 2020, after years of working out of our garage studio, we began looking for a permanent home for Casa Ysasi. By chance, our friend Geo had a storefront on West Adams next to his neon workshop, and he rented part of it to us. It felt serendipitous, the right place at the right time. We started with just half the space, and over time expanded into the full building, shaping it into both a workshop and a gallery showroom.

The renovation was a gradual, hands-on process: building new walls, repainting the entire space with Bauwerk limewash, and carefully considering how light would define the atmosphere.

Light has always been central to ourpractice, and in the showroom it becamethe quiet protagonist. Throughout theday, sunlight filters in from the frontwindows, shifting and bouncing acrossthe walls, transforming the room hourby hour. We believe light can change theway we experience space, and we designedthe gallery with a blend of natural andartificial light to create a calm, reflectiveenvironment

More than just a studio, our vision was to build a sanctuary for art, a place to live with it, to share it, and to welcome others into it. Rooted in care and community, the space has become a site for collaboration with friends, neighbors, and artists who inspire us.

Today, 5104 West Adams is not only our working studio but also a place for gathering. It houses ourshowroom, hosts dinners, workshops, and ongoing exhibitions, constantly shifting and evolving aswe continue to grow.‍
