CASA YSASI

Emeco x CY

Our first exhibition as Casa Ysasi took place at Emeco House, thanks to the generous support of our friend Jaye Buccibinder. Emeco House is a work, living, and event space that serves as a hub for archi- tects, designers, and the local community to connect. The space reflects Emeco’s deep commitment to slow manufacturing, sustainability, and purposeful design. These are values that resonate deeply with our own studio practice.

We approached Emeco with the idea of launching our studio alongside an exhibition featuring two remarkable artists from Oaxaca City. It was during the process of creating this installation that our vision for Casa Ysasi be- came clear. The exhibition marked the official beginning of our dual identity as Studio Ysasi and Ysasi Gallery.

To share the work of artists who have long inspired us within a space shaped by intention and craftsmanship was incredibly meaningful. The project brought together artisans from both Mexico and Los Angeles and highlighted the impor- tance of shaping space as a central part of our practice.

The son of celebrated artist Manuel Jiménez Ramírez, credited with developing the tradition of alebrijes in Oaxaca, Isaías continues this legacy in his family’s workshop. There, he creates, teaches, and welcomes visitors to observe the carving and painting process firsthand.
