Hartmut Böhm

Hartmut Böhm, born in 1938, is a leading European Concrete artist recognized for his influential work in reductive art. Studying under Arnold Bode, he pioneered systems-based art in 1959. His international acclaim began with the 1964 Nouvelle Tendance exhibition in Paris, marking the rise of significant art movements. Böhm has presented over seventy solo exhibitions and participated in numerous global group exhibitions. His work is featured in seventy public collections worldwide, including esteemed institutions like the Neuberger Museum of Art and Harvard University's Busch-Reisinger Museum. For over fifty years, Böhm's practice has explored perception, gestalt, and concept through various media, emphasizing the relativity of perception.
