Enrique Brinkmann Parareda

Enrique Brinkmann, born in 1938 in Malaga, is an artist known for his abstract paintings that transcend into the realm of sculpture. Creating visual tapestries on fine wire mesh positioned away from the wall, he plays with the space between the physical painterly surface and its support. Brinkmann's compositions balance weightlessness and the density of highly worked mesh areas, incorporating a dynamic interplay of shadows and textures. Residing and working between Malaga and Madrid, his works have been featured in international biennales in São Paulo and Beijing, as well as group exhibitions at prestigious institutions like the Museum of Modern Art in Johannesburg, Haus der Kunst in Munich, and the Bronx Museum of the Arts in New York. His art is held in esteemed institutional collections globally, including The Museum of Modern Art, Albertina Museum, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, and Fundación Pablo Picasso.
