Fernando Estarque

Fernando Casás, an experimental artist based in Spain and Brazil, has pioneered innovative work since the late 1960s, intricately exploring memory, energy, and the passage of time. Recognized as a precursor to Art & Nature movements, Casás rejects conventional rules and genres in favor of prioritizing ethics over aesthetics. His exploration unfolds through capturing fleeting moments, intimate encounters with the environment, and navigating diverse artistic mediums. Materials and languages used in his creations are expressive rather than definitive, conveying diverse concepts. Driven by research, Casás incorporates novel materials and techniques, such as archaeological remains and water painting. In 1989, "Amazonas, Serie Negra" earned him acclaim, winning the Ibeu/Brazil-United States Award. After this success, he returned to Galicia. In 1994, he received the International Burgo das Nacións Award from the University of Santiago de Compostela. His evolving art challenges boundaries, inviting reflection on the intersection of memory, energy, and time.
