Eva Pater Lootz

Eva Lootz, born and educated in Vienna, is an artist who found acclaim in Spain. She relocated to Madrid in 1968 and had her first solo exhibition there in 1973. Lootz's art prioritizes ideas and existence over pure aesthetics. Natural materials like wax, cotton, and wood are her tools of choice. For Lootz, each artwork represents a "pause" within the constant flow of life, captured through her artistic expression. Her earlier works leaned towards abstraction, emphasizing texture. Later pieces incorporated imagery and symbolism, as seen in her felt sculpture of a red tongue. A recent mixed-media work features a wooden beam split in two, with ashes resting at the ends. Lootz's art invites interpretation, reflecting the freedom of expression in our modern times.
